Summary

Established in 1902, Big Basin Redwoods is California’s oldest state park. In the heart of the Santa Cruz Mountains, its biggest attractions—literally—are its ancient coast redwoods. Some of these giants are more than 50 feet around and as tall as the Statue of Liberty. At 1,000 to 2,500 years old, some may predate the Roman Empire. The park also offers spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean, lush waterfalls, and a fascinating natural and cultural history.

Event Plan:

We are traveling in a counter clockwise direction around the trail.

Turn Right on Skyline-to-the-Sea Trail -> Turn Left on Dool Trail -> Turn Left onto Sunset Trail -> Turn left onto Berry Creek Trail -> Turn Left onto Howard King Trail -> Turn left and Walk along Hilhn Hammond Road a 1/4 mile to Mt McAbee Overlook on the right where you pick up Howard King Trail again -> Stay on Howard King as it crosses the road -> Turn right on to Skyline to the Sea -> Stay to the left as you pass Hilhn Hammond Connector Trail -> Cross the bridge to arrive at your starting point.
